Recovery

lyrics

I looked into her eyes
And what did I see?
A broken little girl
Staring back at me
She wore long sleeves
To cover her secret
She told her friends
But they couldn’t keep it

Her father was a drunk
And beat her bad
Her mother forgot her
And left her for her dad
She tried to self-medicate
To quiet down her mind
But she didn’t know the voices,
The voices weren’t so kind

The cuts on her arms
Grew deeper and deeper
The man didn’t understand
She was without a plan.
The pills were calling
Pulling closer
And the girl let them win
Let them win…
Let them win…

A boy she loved
She gave him her all
He had left her
And didn’t even call
The girl was unhappy
She didn’t want to live
She thought life was pointless
With nothing left to give

Her only friend
Was she had
The girl couldn’t thank her
She was so glad
The girl tried to get better
To try and to be free
I bet you wouldn’t understand
If that girl was me
Recovery…
Recovery…
